Door Materials
There are 4 main types of door materials:
Hollow Core
These doors typically consist of 2 x MDF skins secured to a timber frame with a cardboard honeycomb interior. They are very light and cost effective and as such very widely used across residential construction
Rib Polycore & Solid Polycore
These doors typically consist of 2 x MDF skins secured to a timber frame with a polystyrene interior and present improved durability and sound properties whilst still remaining relatively light. They are often specified for mid and upper tier residential homes as well as commercial applications
Solid Core
These doors typically consist of 2 x MDF skins secured to a timber frame with a dense chipboard interior and present high levels of durability and sound properties. Subsequently Solid Core Doors are extremely heavy and are used most often in Commercial applications as they are better able to cope with the demand of high use. They also form the basis of Fire Doors which are required to meet building code for multi-unit residential dwellings as well as public buildings such as hospitals.
Solid Timber
These doors are made to order from a range of new and or recycled timbers with a full range of designs & patterns. They are hand crafted by highly skilled joiners providing the perfect accent to an architecturally designed home.
